At Beeson Wellness, we practice integrative medicine. What does this mean for a patient? First, we will start with the definition and move on to the types of treatments.
Definition from the National Library of Medicine:
“Integrative medicine is practicing medicine in a way that selectively incorporates elements of complementary and alternative medicine into comprehensive treatment plans alongside solidly orthodox methods of diagnosis and treatment.”
Our integrative treatments at Beeson Wellness Center focus on natural pain relief and resolving underlying health issues that cause pain and other debilitating symptoms. Dan Beeson, DC, DABCI, and the entire team of health professionals, partner with patients to implement customized plans to relieve pain, restore function, and enhance overall wellness. Custom plans can treat various conditions, including sciatica, neuropathy, arthritis, knee pain, back pain, sports injuries, auto injuries, chronic diseases, and many internal illnesses. Our clinic is equipped with advanced diagnostic imaging technology, including digital X-rays, surface electromyography, and ultrasound.
Our job at Beeson Wellness is getting someone’s body to heal. What does that mean? People are familiar with how a doctor sets a bone and puts a cast on it while it heals itself. It is not the cast that heals the broken bone; it is the body. The body has an innate ability to heal itself if it’s not interfered with and that bone is healthy.
Our definition of “Healthy” is when every cell, tissue, and organ is doing its job when it is supposed to. It is a timing situation. What controls the healing process? It is your central nervous system and your hormonal system.
Chiropractic deals with the spine and joints. There is a range of motion that every healthy joint should go through. The joint plate is the junction between two or more bones, usually formed of connective tissue and cartilage. All you need to know is that as the plate slides around and glides when the joint moves, it provides an exchange of nutrition for that joint to stay healthy. There is also feedback to the nervous system. So, when a joint plate gets stuck in one position, you lose that exchange of nutrition to the joint and the feedback to the nervous system, and the joint begins to deteriorate. The result is that you experience pain
Our chiropractors at Beeson Wellness determine how that joint is stuck and use light, gentle force to put it back into position. Through chiropractic, things begin to improve and heal. If it is an arthritic joint, chiropractic adjustments will slow the arthritis, and the pain will go away.
As mentioned above, we practice integrative medicine to address each person’s pain on an individual basis of what their body needs to heal and be pain-free. In addition to chiropractic which we’ve already mentioned above, below are the other services we offer.
Also known as physiotherapy or physical therapy, rehabilitation strengthens and stretches the muscles and connective tissue to promote healing after an injury. It may also include treatments that increase circulation, stimulate tissue regrowth, and relax muscles. The goal of rehabilitation is to restore function and relieve pain completely.
Regenerative medicine is a cutting-edge approach to treating arthritis, sports injuries, chronic pain, and other conditions. Innovative treatments, such as platelet-rich plasma therapy, can promote healing and repair damage to muscles, joint tissue, and bone. The exceptional team at Beeson Wellness Center in Portland, Oregon, is highly skilled and experienced in regenerative medicine.
Our mission is to identify, treat, manage, and resolve health concerns using a multidisciplinary, total wellness approach that best suits the patient. Some patients may see one, two, or three doctors simultaneously to get the best of each treatment to resolve their physical problems. Our job is all about you and helping you live pain-free.
